Carrollton City School System buses transport about 2,900 children to and from school daily, covering approximately 90,000 miles by the end of school year. The school system’s 37 buses annually consume about 67,000 gallons of diesel fuel, post more than 70,000 miles for field trips alone and cost almost $40,000 a year to maintain. All drivers not only hold specialized commercial driver’s licenses, but each is certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Riders are to be at the assigned pick-up location 10 minutes prior to bus arrival.
Buses cannot make unscheduled stops to pick up late riders.
Since drivers are watching out for the safety of all the children, they may not see children waiting on a porch or coming out of the home.
Riders must remain in their seats at all times.
Riders must not yell.
Drivers cannot operate a bus safely when riders are behaving in a way that distracts them.
Bus service is offered to all children who attend Carrollton City Schools who live inside the city limits. To request service, parents must fill out a Bus Request form available at the front office the school their child attends. These forms are to be used by parents when:
1. Making the initial request to ride a bus.
2. When a change of pick-up or drop-off location is requested.
Please make all requests through your child’s school office.
If your child is not a regular rider and on occasion needs to ride the bus, please contact the school so a temporary pass can be issued.
Bus route information can be obtained from the Transportation office located at 930 Hay’s Mill Road.
If you are interested in becoming a licensed school bus driver for Carrollton City Schools, please come by the Transportation office for an application. We offer a free, full-training package for interested applicants.
